Ain't I a stinker? No, but truly, I don't like going to church, but if I ever do, I just stare at the beautiful architecture, artwork, and vestments (is that the right word?) all hour long.

As a recovering Catholic. I am still in awe of the decor of churches specially in Europe.

I got chills just reading about it in "Name of the Rose."

The decoration in Gothic churches was both a means to show how much money they had and to educate an otherwise illiterate population. Maybe still the same today.

Good shot.

As they sped their runabout through shallow waters, crushing the skulls of innocent manatees and mer-men, they left a wake of amazing art and achitecture floating behind.

Got to spread the love of Jesus, even if that means cracking some skulls.

Couple interesting religious items:

The Pope was in Brazil (maybe still is) and made the statement that the indigenous people were 'silently longing' for the arrival of Christianity.

PBS has been showing a show about the recently opened Spanish Inquisition archives. Haven't watched much, but it's about as ugly as you would imagine, though fascinating.

Saw a PBS episode of "Secrets of the Dead," where they tried to solve the mystery of skeletons that appeared to be as a result of an execution in ancient Rome. The Roman emperors were no picnic, either.

No question about that. Anywhere you find people vested with absolute authority there is bad shit going down.

Just look at Bush and Cheney.
